Sydney Water is proud to have formed a partnership with the McGrath Foundation by funding a Breast Care Nurse for the next 3 years through to 2025.
By registering your shower timer, you are helping fund one McGrath Breast Care Nurse. From the time of diagnosis, and throughout treatment, McGrath Breast Care Nurses inform, organise, empower and support people with breast cancer and their families
Keeping your shower to 4 minutes, you will have more time to check your chest for any potential abnormalities.
The McGrath Foundation raises money to fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses who provide invaluable support and care to women and men experiencing breast cancer. It has funded 185 nurses across Australia and has supported 110,000 families since 2005. However, one in 5 people are still missing out on the support of a Breast Care Nurse. Fortunately, Sydney Water has dedicated to help them fulfil their goal of ensuring no cancer patient goes without access to such a valuable service.
One in 7 Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. However, it's a disease that doesn’t discriminate against age or gender – and men are at risk as well. Having knowledge around risk factors, as well as conducting regular breast checks, are important preventive measures. At the heart of the McGrath Foundation are Breast Care Nurses who support the emotional and physical wellbeing of people going through their cancer journey.
